'79 & '80 Broncos

Mechanically, is there any difference between the '79 & '80 Broncos? Specifically, can I use an '80 EVTM for the '79?

78-79 Broncos are similar, the 80 is a in-between more related to the 81-89 Broncos, but it still has several diferences with those...

There's almost zero visual difference between an 80 and the rest of 81 - 86 (minus the FORD lettering on the hood that the 80/81 has). But the 80 had a lot of electrical stuff that was different.
I know when I was ordering stuff like headlight, wiper, etc. switches, there was 80, and 81 - 86. The 80 part was usually 3x as much. Looked the same though.
However, almost all of it is completely different than a 78/79.

Isn't the 80 one of the swiss cheese frame years? But yeah they pretty different solid front axle verses TTB and totally different body styles.

80 and 81 had the swiss cheese frames, but not all of them. Just a bunch of holes cut in the frame to save weight. Good thing they quickly realized it was a terrible idea.

Agree with everything the guys already said. But clue ol' Greystreak in here... what's an EVTM? I thought I knew all the acronyms.

To me it sounds like: Electronic Voltimeter, not an acronym, any other guesses?

Oh brudda, guess maybe folks 'round here aren't up on the lingo, we just call it a shop manual. That's a mouthful. EVTM... hmmm, Ok.

Electrical and vacuum cross-referencing is simpler with a multi-year book. And chances are, if that book stops at a particular year, there were enough changes to make the cross-reference to the next year difficult to say the least. Just a lil' input from the guy who has never even called such a book by its name. Suppose I learned something today.
