front gear swap question

I want to swap out the gears in the front of the truck (95 300 4x4). Can I leave everything except the pumpkin and just swap that out?

If possible I don't want to deal with ball joints etc.

Yeah that's normally the way it's done, the gearset is installed inside the pumpkin and it's then reinstalled in the truck. What made you think the whole axle had to change?
