Couple Of ?????

How do I know what rear end I got in my 97 3/4 ton? The tag says 1296 and 3.55 which I imagine is my gear ratio but I need to know which rear end I got to do a gear swap for 4.10s

Also, my truck clunks when turning hard and it sounds like the spare in the rear is clunking but its up in there tight. Could it be bushings in the anti sway bar or whatever it is that goes along the rear end from one side to the other? Anything common I should know?

Thanks,
GG

The decal on the drivers door pillar has an axle code as well. If your truck is a LD it will have a 10.25 semi floater, and if it's an HD model it will have the full floater version.

See here... Ford Axle Code Chart .: Articles

That's the full floater 10.25 with a 3.55 open differential.
