2006 F-150 4.2L Acting Up
Just recently I've been having a problem with my truck only after I fill it up with gas. Doing a code scan I got 3 codes:
P0171 - System to lean bank 1
P0174 - System to lean bank 2
P1450 - Manufacturer control auxiliary emission controls
All codes came from an Actron OBDII scanner if that makes a difference. Now onto the problem. When I put gas into the fuel tank, the truck does not want to start up for a little bit after. The engine will spin over, but will not start. I have to try a good 3 or 4 times before the engine will finally start, but it will run rough at idle for a little bit (15-20 seconds) then smooth out.
This only happens when I put gas into the tank, other than that it starts up and runs fine every other time. I do not hear a hissing sound when I take off the gas cap, the truck starts fine if I remove the cap and put it back on to vent whatever pressure/vacuum might be in there. It doesn't make a difference if the engine is not or cold, once I put gas in, it doesn't want to start.
The only thing I recently changed to the fuel system was a new fuel filter made by purolator. The truck has just under 29k miles on it and of course just out of warranty. So, any suggestions I should check out?

First off... Welcome to the forum...Now on to your issue. While I have yet to replace the fuel filter on my 07,I would consider the possibility of either a defect fuel filter,or perhaps something got damaged during the change.
If your truck was doing fine prior to the filter change,I would replace it again, and make sure of the integrity of the inlet/outlet connections.
The likelyhood of a defective filter is slim,as I have never had a new one be bad,but I guess it can happen.
I replaced the fuel filter on my old 97 in the recent past, and if memory serves it had "clip" connections requiring a special tool.IF the 06/07 year model has anywhere close to the same setup,I would pay special attention to the clips, and overall tightness of the installation.

This is just speculation, but your gas fillup issue might be caused by a problem with tje EVAP system -- the system that vents the tank into a charcol canister. That may be the source of your 3rd code.
As for the lean codes, there are a lot of posts here relating to vacuum leaks causing extra air to get by the MAF. The general advice is to inspect the vacuum tubing -- especially any elbows.
