As of September '09, Honda was kicking butt as was Toyota. These numbers are all pretty old now. I'd like to see numbers for January 2010.

Here are some January 2010 car numbers.

January Sales Snapshot: Compact Sedans And Wagons | The Truth About Cars

They have not yet published the full list. Usually pickups and mid-size cars are the biggest sellers, but Corollas and Civics are always up there too. Why are people suddenly in love with the Cobalt? National must be beefing up its rental fleet.

Chevy has a great ad campaign right now about MPG's against rival Toyota models. Non car enthusiasts tend to believe what ever they are fed. I personally consider GM and Yota to suck equally.

Interesting that the only vehicles that had a sales increase in that comparison are the Jetta and Fusion. The F150 had a .6% loss, and the rest were double digit percentages, most sitting around 40-50%.
On a side note, why does Toyota sell a Prius with 17" alloys, heated leather seats, and a six disk CD changer? I know you have to be a special type of hypocrite to buy one in the first place, but who in their right mind would option out a Prius?

Why not? If it is your primary vehicle, which most of them actually are, get the extras you want. I think your image of the typical buyer is the Hollywood type that parks it out front and never actually drives it. Thats maybe 100 or so units out of over 100,000 sold.

Does the Fusion Hybrid limit you only to base trim level and no options?

Its not for me, but If everyone was like me, the car business would be in worse shape than it already is. Yes, I buy new, but not high-profit options and packages, and only once every decade or so.

I love it... pimp my Prius! Go "green" and make the environmentalists happy and add leather seats to upset PETA at the same time!
