78 f250 body lift?
Ok so i already have a 6 inch lift on my 78, and i wanna add a 3 inch body lift too (just lookin for a cheap simple way to lift it a little more) what exactly is going to be involved in this to do everything right, my biggest concern is the shifter still going to be right? and will I have to do anything with the steering? Id just like to know exactly whats going to be involved if i do this.

IMO a set of polyurethane cab mount bushings are a must have. Steering will work, just loosen the bolts up under the dash and slide the column down all the way. If it's a auto all you have to do is cut the shifter rod and weld a piece in to extend it. Gas filler lines will work but remove the hose clamp that holds the filler pipe to the bottom of the bed floor. You will have to drop the rad. down. No big deal just redrill the top holes 3" down and make a 3" drop bracket for the bottom bolts. Your master cylinder steel lines should stretch enough.

Look at the top of the offroad forum for the tech thread and then look at the body lift thread that was put together by our former moderator Adrian. Basically the body lift isn't recommended unless you really need it and even so there's some more work involved then most people put into it because of the leverages and forces and so on and so forth involved. Personally, I'm not a fan of body lifts because of the big gap it leaves between the frame and body, and misaligned bumpers, etc. I think the safety issue is also taken a bit to the extreme and it isn't THAT bad if you take the time to do it right. Anyway, take a look up there, let me know if you can't find it I'll try to link you to it.

ok thanks for the info. ill check that thread out. Are there any other simple ways of gettin 3 or 4 inches more lift? ive got a lot of info on here already about shackle flips and using super duty springs and what not, but it all seems like theres a lot of work involved to get anything more than 6 inches.

Give us some more details on the truck (150, 250, etc) and what you've done so far to lift it, then we'll go from there to see how we can help you.
edit: whoops, missed the 250 part in the title, but what do you have as far as a lift right now?
A shackle flip in the rear will get you around 4 inches of lift if you go with a sky manufacturing piece, and taller springs up front or dropping down your mounting points are two fairly common options. You don't want to go with too much of an arch in your springs or you'll end up with a brick like ride!

i actually just read the rest of your post, i somehow missed it before, but ya I've been told by a few people that a shackle flip is an option, but i alos heard that its not very strong. As far as the front is concerned, I've been having a hard time finding a way to lift the front more without a lot of custom work.

If you don't mind spending the money for the springs I would contact deaver springs or someone like that to see if they can make you a spring that will fit your needs. Are you concerned about ride quality, how it flexes, etc? It really depends on what you're going to use the truck for and what you expect to get out of it before you take your next step.

i have 35s on it now, but i plan on putting 38.5 x 15 boggers on it. I wanted bigger but any bigger than that is crazy expensive, do u think those will look too small with that much lift?
And if its really worth it I could spend the money on springs. If theres too much involved thats prob what i'll do but idk how hard it is to do the shackle flip in the rear and whatever else in the front. Im not too concerned with ride quality and it doesnt need to flex too much i wont be going down any crazy trails, just a lot of mudding and some trails.
