L8000 pump info needed

I have a 1980 Ford L8000. While plowing the other night my driver said the gearcase on the front of the engine slowly got louder and louder. This is the gearcase that attaches to the front engine pulleys with a 1' driveshaft. He continued to drive it and eventually called me and I told him to shut it down. It now sounds terrible and obviously needs to be rebuilt so I pulled it off today. First of all, what is this thing called? I believe the hydraulic pump that mounts to it would still be ok but the gearcase itself needs to be rebuilt. I am considering pulling it all apart myself and exploring. Any ideas or suggestions? I am also considering just trying to find another used one but I dont even know what this type of geasrcase is called so I dont know what to search for on the web or ebay. Any info would be appreciated! I also have pics

Should still be called a PTO, although most of the ones I have experience with are driven off the trans. A lot of cement trucks use the style that you have. They are usually pretty simple inside, but there is not a lot of places for pieces to go once something goes bad. About 75% of the time we end up getting a complete new unit. Any heavy duty truck place should be able to get you parts or a new one.

Not sure where you are but do a search on TruckPro. They should be able to help you. Any good truck gear shop in your town (not a dealership) can get that stuff unless it's something not made anymore.
