Im finding out more every day.
I went and put a couple of good tiires on it today.
Ive got a wrecker towing it home tomorrow , at the price I wish I had of fixed a few things and drove it home.
Its got a Detroit (dont know what size?" or what transmission for sure.
Anyone know what size Jimmy it might be?
I looked at the papers and it apears to be a 1978.

Im having a hard time getting it going?
I know the batteries are shot as they look old , ones a big battery and the others just a normal pickup battery.
Do i need 2 of those big ones?

+ to - to +? Reads to me like you have a 24 volt system? I hate that setup.
Yank the S/P switch. Yank the starter and install a 42 MT in it.
Toss those batteries, and get 4 "31-ECL" Interstate batteries. Hook them up parallel. Make sure the cables and cable ends are clean. Clean the connections at the starter and alternator. 4 new Interstates will crank over pretty much anything.
Unless you're running 6 volt batteries. In that case, yank them too, yank the s/p switch, toss the batteries, and get new 12 volt batteries.

Are you sure ive got a 24 volt system ?
How can I tell for positive?

Best I remember the 8-71s came with a single 12v battery,3 30 or 31 series batteries should start it fine

42 MT is series/size of starter which you should already have
Check for tags on alternator and starter they should both be 12V
