Has anyone replaced their hazard blinker, or the turn signal blinker with a heavier duty unit? This cold snap has my blinkers blinking with long pauses, and very short 'on' times.

Have you tried a new flasher relay? it is what controls the speed of the flash. and If I remeber correctly is located on the fuse block of these rigs.. Owners manual should tell it's location, and it is a pull and plug just like a fuse..

It would be on the fuse block on the drivers side kick panel. A round shaped piece about the cicumference of a $.50 piece ( WHY DONT THESE KEYBOARDS HAVE CENT SYMBOLS).

There is one in the front and one behind that block, so to get to the one in back you have to unscrew the whole block. I don't remember which is which, so you may want to just pull the front one and replace it first and see what happens. Pretty sure these are very economical parts but have never priced them.

I once looked at electronic flasher relays (as opposed to the thermal style these trucks normally use), and they were about $10-$20. Not sure if they sell ones for our trucks.

Yeah, the flashers, I know where they are, I just couldn't think of name for them. ( um solenoid, switch, uhh, blinker, yeah, haha)

Is there a heavier duty flasher I can get?

I had a heavy duty fasher, it was longer than normal almost 2x as long.
It was needed when you had a trailer hooked up. The increased current draw from the extra blinker bulb made the turn signals blink too fast.

I always call them flasher relay. Yes there are heavy duty ones, as already stated, just ask your parts man at Napa, or Auto Zone, or whereever you go. Not so sure that WalMart will have the selection as a parts house.. If your flasher is slow chances are it is just getting wore out, and you just need a new one.. also some times slow flashing is an indication of a burned out bulb in the front or rear of the vehicle and it is not a big enough load on the flasher to make it heat up and flash as it was designed too..
