Upper Control Arm BJ and LBJ on 05 4x4 Screw

Well I just got my lovely new Wrangler AT S tire installed and man do they look good. Only problem is on alignment they noticed that the upper ball joints and lower were shot. The uppers i have to get with the control arms ive been quoted everything from 227 for Ford arms to 107 for the Autozone brand. I live up a very bad road and was wondering if their was anything that was a little more heavy duty that i could get installed which might hold up better. I am thinking that for those prices maybe i should just go ahead and get the lift kit but then my wife would kick my @$$ cause i would have to change my tires. Also my truck only has 32,ooo miles on it and i never offroad it on purpose other than when my driveway is washed out.

well it seems premature at 32k to have to replace ball joints but every case is different, i think if i were going to replaceball joint or any other part i would choose moog parts. that would be my first choice, as far as that lift were talkin about you know what they say its easier to ask for forgivness rather than permission. any how moog parts come with a lifetime warranty which i have cashed in on many times when it comes to the older ford ranger balljoints. good luck I think the lift would be cool though, might be time to polish up those sucking up skills (wink wink )

I ended up replacing both uppers before 40k on mine as well.....i'm a little suprised you need lowers.....but its not out of the range of possiblities....

I put ford ones in, and ended up getting them from a ford supplier online for 125ish each ....however i'd put in the moog ones if i were doing it again as they are greaseable...and probably would last a bit longer....

My 06 has original Ford ball joints in it and their ok at 40,000 miles. I noticed on my truck that they are TRW ball joints. Not a bad brand, but for the same money I'd put in Moog. Should be able to get them online for reasonable $. Check out one our sponsors.
