8.8 pinion bearing replacement
I believe my pinion bearing is the source of my noise. Does anyone have instructions on how to replace this bearing? I have an 8.8 LSD, 2001 F-150 XTR package two wheel drive. The outer bearings and seals have been changed as well as the four inner gears. I had the pinion seal changed a few years back and the pre-load was probably not done properly.

Usually if the pinion bearing is going, the seal will leak as the pinion is wallowing out the seal.
If you can't get the pinion to wiggle by moving the drive shaft up and down or left to right, and the seal isn't leaking, I would tend to believe that the pinion bearing is okay.
At any rate it probably makes sense to pull the cover and check the tooth pattern on the ring gear.
