WONT START AFTER A COUPLE DAYS

I saw this topic before, but now cant find it or the site won't allow it back up. I have a 95 F150 4X4, 351 auto, and about 155,000. Only drive it about once or twice a week. A few months ago it occassionally would not start up immeadiately. Hasn't mattered if it was cold or warm out, (been cold lately). This has began to get worse, with it not starting at all this past weekend. I pulled the plug which over-rides the computer (not sure of proper name) and it ran. Haven't been able to pull the codes, but no check engine light on except when long pulls with camp trailer. Fuel pump primes when key is turned on. I saw a post which spoke of a part in the distributer or possibly the computer itself, although another said the computer rarely fails. Any help would be great. Sorry, tried to access the past posts but site is way slow or not allowing it all.

Please clarify your question. Not starting can mean it won't turn over (spin the engine with the starter) or the engine cranks but no "fire". Was the plug you pulled the "SPOUT" Gray plug near the firewall?

yes, my bad.. spins over but no fire. usually very dependable about quickly starting. and yes again on the grey spout plug. after pulling it and firing up, it ran very rich for a bit, but smoothed out quickly after putting the plug back in. Thanks for any help.

You might try turning the ignition switch off and on, waiting a few seconds in the on position, a dozen or so timies before cranking it. This will prime the gas up. This seems to make my vehicles start easier after sitting several days or longer.

It is still concerning that pulling the SPOUT allows the engine to start. Combine that with your statement you cannot pull any codes with two different readers. I'd start with the basics. Pull the SPOUT, check the base timing. Adjust if necessary. Can you try getting a known good reader? Or use the paper clip method to see if you can read any codes from the flashing CEL light?

Thanks for the imput. I don't believe it is a fuel issue, as it seems to prime well. I have not been able to get the codes only because i believe my code reader is not working correctly. Will check other avenues for the codes.

Go to fordfuelinjection.com and from the list on the right, click on Self Test. You can follow the instructions there and pull the codes using the flashing CEL.

I was finally able to get the codes off the pickup. 116, 636, and 114. Any help is appreciated.
