magnaflow muffler

I dont have a magnaflow i have a somewhat custom catback (because the company only made about 1000 of them and went **** up) but it has a flowmaster super 50 and is a single in dual out, that comes out the back with 18'' long 3'' in diameter rolled tips and sounds really good. I am not sure if it has any proformance value but it sounds much better than stock. But basicly everyone else is going to tell you flowmaster kinda sucks. I just think anything other than stock is probably going to make you happy.
I replaced my stock muffler on my 97 460 with out a catback and it was ok but disappointing in how quiet it was. I would just go with a good catback, it will look and sound cooler.

i have a magnaflow muffler and i love the way it sounds..it isnt too loud though but thats not what i was going for. i just wanted a nice rumble and didn't want cab drone on the highway....form what i hear a bunch of people do this instead of a catback cause you can save LOTS of money by just having a muffler put in and basically get the same performance gains. what i dad is i got the regular finish not the polished and i painted the entire exaust system black for i nice clean look. i guess there are just those people that like to say they have the whole catback. just my 2 cents

I prefer Magnaflow over Flowmaster any day. I have had both and the Magnaflow has a much cleaner deep sound and is not obnoxious inside the cab. My truck has actually had both 40 and 50 series Flowmaster over the years, but now has a Magnaflow and its staying that way. It also runs better with the Magnaflow.
I'm not sure why you would paint the entire exhaust system black. For one black absorbs heat. Thats not good for an exhaust system. Secondly it will just burn off eventually and look patchy.
I would say that your best bet is to just get a muffler and have an exhaust shop install it and put what ever type of tail pipes you want. It will most likely end up fitting better than a cat back. Thats not to say that cat backs are junk. They can be nice, because you can install them yourself.
