Shift interlock fuse

Shift interlock fuse
I have an '01 Excursion. All of the sudden, it's blowing fuse #34, which controls the shift interlock. As soon as I replace the fuse, it pops. Do you think it might be the solenoid that controls the shift interlock? Is it located in the steering column? Can it be tested to see if it's bad? I have read a bunch of posts on shift interlocks, but I couldn't find any of these answers.

I had the same problem last winter. That fuse would go sending the cruise out also. Kinda a pain to put key to run to shift into N to be able to start er up to go anywhere.
Mine ended up being the wiring on the end of the master cylinder, which has a recall on it. The worst part of it is that mine had already been replaced under the recall before I purchased and still had the problem. I would start there first, because I also ended up replacing the cruise control module.

Oh, but for anyone wanting to do the Brake Switch on theirs, the part # is 1L1Z-9F924-AA (as per Jeepincj7)

Thanks for the post guys!
Yesterday morning my wife's 2002 Excursion would not shift out of park. Fuse #34 was blown, and a replacement 10A fuse blew immediately. There was a dead short to ground on the load side of the fuse. The problem turned out to be the cruise control switch on the master brake cylinder, as you suggested. The switch was leaking brake fluid all over the connector. Your post saved me a lot of time, trouble, and money. The wife is so happy that her car was fixed very quickly, and it cost only $28 plus tax (it was easier to just replace the switch rather than take the car to a dealer even if there is a recall). Thank you very much!
