96 f150 continuously blowing abs/shift interlock/brake lights fuse/ ABS light flashing
Got a 96 f150. A few years ago I had the cruise control harness recall work done.
Just today it began continuously blowing fuse 13 that controls the abs, shift interlock and brake lights.
Anyone had this problem? Seems to be pretty common for this era of f series
I'm not paying anyone to fix it so its going to be solved in the garage. Thankfully it's a Sunday driver truck with 62 k orig on it. So I do have another truck to drive in the meantime

One thing I can think of is (if it's an E4OD) the wires that connect the overdrive off button at the end of the shift lever may be messed up where wires come out of the shift lever on top of the steering column.. Pull the top cover off and check those wires there are 3 of them in a small harness.. They tend to break and/or loose insulation after years of heat and being bent back and forth..
If you find bare wires there put some tape on them to test it out.. The tape won't last long, so you will have to make a better repair or it will happen again..
I had one bare so I took that one wire out of the plug (under the dash) and slid some heat shrink tubing up to the bare spot, and put the heat to it.. I was blowing that same fuse.....
Been working fine for 8 years now!!!
