Looking at a Truck (or Two) Need Help!!!

I'm looking to buy a Ford Truck (preferably an F250) with a plow on it for this winter. I don't want to spend more than $2000. I've been combing craigslist, and I can't really find a whole lot.

I did find this one, and I want to know what anyone thinks.

94 F250

I do have a question about the transmission. He says 5 speed with granny 1st and OD, which is sending a mixed message. Is it an auto, or can a manual have OD? also, is a truck with this high of miles worth the trouble or the money?
There's another guy who's selling a 1995 with a fisher minute mount on it, and he said that he would sell me the plow for $500, or the truck with the plow for a little more. In order for it to be road legal though, I would need to replace about 75% of the body, or patch it. (The nose, at least one door, the bed, a hole in driver's floor.) It comes with a new nose and two new doors, but no new bed. Is replacing all those parts worth my time, and how difficult is it?

My three big things are:

1. Will it last?
2. It needs to be road legal in NH by the time snow flies (about three weeks), and I am a student, with not a huge amount of free time. I can do body work (bondo/sheetmetal/riveting/etc.) but not major drivetain repairs. I need the truck to be relatively ready to go, with the exception of little things.
3. Is it worth my money in the condition that it is in?

Thank you very much for the help....

Yes standards can have OD

1) Depends on the truck, cant really tell from not lookin at it.
(Any plow truck you get will have problems eventually due to NE winters)

2) Depends on how much work you want to put into it. If you want ready to go...i suggest looking more.

3) Idk which truck you are referring too....depends on how cheap you can make repairs...remember its not only things they are telling you....(i usually add on at least 200 due to lieing by the PO saying something works when it doesnt, ive had my share of that)

Also you never said how many miles....how much you looking at? If its super high id take that thing for a long test drive before buying--my first mistake

thanks. The 94 has a lot of miles, like 250k. The 94 f250 in blue is a link to the add. I have no idea about the 95, other than it is rusty and needs major body work. I know that they both have 351 windsors in them, and the rusty one has a c6 automatic tranny. Thanks for the help

I know that it isn't pre-97, but it is essentially the same -------> plow truck 97 F250

any thoughts. I'm especially interested in theories as to why it won't work....

I'm looking at a bronco. It's $995, however, I'm not really keen on plowing with a half ton. How hard is it to put the 3/4 or one tin leaf springs into a bronco?

Rear leaf springs are pretty straight forward. Same shackles and hangers. Just need new ubolts. For the fronts you could upgrade to the 1 ton coil springs from a similar year 2wd f350 and all you will need is an alignment. There are a number of threads on this. The new front coils will handle the extra weight but I'm not sure about longterm wear on the balljoints and 1/2 ton front axles.

There are a few people on here who plow with Broncos so you're probably ok with some upgrades.
