Correct Carb for 76 F-150 with 390 auto

Gentlemen:

I have a 1976 F-150 with 42K original miles. It has a 390 with an automatic trans. It currently has an after-market Holley carb that leaks like a sieve.

I want to try find an OEM carb.

The 76 shop manual I have does not ID a carb specificaly for the F-150. Does anyone know what the part number was for the original carb?

Thanks.

No FoMoCo car or truck used any Auto-Lite parts after 1972.

After fighting it out in the courts for years and losing case after case, Ford was finally forced by the US Gov't to sell Auto-Lite in 1972, because the Gov't claimed Ford had a monopoly on autoparts.

Ford claimed that if they were guilty, so was GM...who had owned DELCO since 1911. That argument fell on deaf ears.

Ford then started in-house brand Motorcraft.

1976 F150 390: Is it a 2V or a 4V? The 4th digit of the VIN is the engine code: H = 1968/76 390 2V / M = 1974/76 390 4V.

As original: 2V = Motorcraft / 4V = Holley.

There are several different versions of each carb...as it depends on whether the truck was originally sold new in CA...or not.

The Truck was sold in Washington State. It is an original 4V.

I have seen numbers like D4TE ASA but don't know if this is for a 150 or 250.

Hmm. I did not know that about the autolites. My 66 Fairlane has an autolite 2 barrel. My brother is really into the autolite carbs for some reason. He claims they are the best carbs. ?? The 1975 Highboy I had had a 360 with Autolite 4-barrel, I figured it was stock, guess not. My brother stole that carb. lol.

Thanks very much for your help. The shop manual shows D5TE-EA for 250s and 350s but I guess it will work for 150s as well. It has a cruise-o-matic 3 speed transmission, is this the same as a C6?

1968/76: The only A/T used with 360/390 engines is the C6.

1973/79 Ford Light Truck Parts Catalog / Carburetor Application Chart / Section 95; Page 42:

D5TE-EA = D5TZ9510E (Motorcraft CT1243).

Fits: 1975 F150/350 390 from serial number W0,001 (except CA emission), all 1976 F150/350 390 (except CA emission).

1975 F100 Super Cab Short Bed

I am trying to find out what type of carb I have. I have a 360 CID engine with this motorcraft 2 barrel carb. It does say motorcraft on top of the carb. The tag that should be there has long been gone. Can you tell what type of carb i got by my vin number F10YKX41069? I know it is a 2150. But the number on the carb tag is missing so i have nothing to go by as I am trying to get a replacement and these carb dealers what a number to go by. 2150 means nothing to them. Please help.
