2001 F350 lost injectors on passenger side

Today my mechanic told me i have lost all four injectors on the passenger side. I suspect this was caused by fuel starvation while having trouble with low fuel pressure .

I am considering the remanufactured injectors from Diesel Care & Performance in Tennessee.

Any suggestions?

That's usually caused by an electrical problem, specifically, the UVCH connector. Are you sure the injectors themselves are bad?

David, I would check the UVCH on that side to make sure it is still pluged in. How did he come to this conclusion?

EDIT: Quick today Joe?

If UVCH is " under valve cover harness", i did ask him to check all the wiring connections as i suspected a poor connection when i brought it to him. I had already replaced the fuel pressure regulator housing as the original had collapsed inside and was unable to maintain fuel pressure.

I do not know what test he ran to arrived at this. He actually said three were not working and one was hit and miss.

My truck has less than 80K miles, any chance the injectors are covered by the 100K warranty?

Did he take the valve covers off to do this test? If he just tested the connection on the outside of the VC then he would show the injectors not fireing if the connection on the inside the VC is not making a good connection.

EDIT: The 100k warranty is only for 5 years, which ever comes first. No warranty.

The warranty was 5yrs or 100k whichever comes first, so you are most likely past the 5yr mark.

I am highly doubting that 4 injectors with only 80k on them went bellyup at the same time. I also cant see how low fuel pressure would hurt an injector. Now if you said you heard what sounded like a midget with a ball peen hammer banging on an anvil under your hood, then I might lean that way.

If you are referring to the original IH powertrain warranty for 5 years/100K, you are well over expired on the years.

He removed the valve covers, and yes i am beyond 5 years on my 2001.

Somewhere i read that if oil pressure gets too low the injectors work so poorly that damage can occur. That is my reason for mentioning the fuel issue. I figure if the motor barely runs, low oil pressure.

I say pull the VC off and look at the connector yourself. It can be done in an hour or two, depending on how much of a PITA some of those bolts are for ya'. I had one give me a hard time right by the AC evap box.

I had expected one, maybe two bad or poorly connected injectors.

The valve covers are off and the truck is sitting in his shop. Exactly where is/are the connector(s) i need to check?

Don't forget that the wire bundle on the driver's valve cover chafes on the bottom and can cause a short. That can tell the IDM to shut down one bank.

Hmmmm, isn't yours doing just that?

They are lubricated with fuel. No fuel=no lubrication.

Notice the black tape over the red sheathing? Notice the two "wear marks about halfway between the tape and the yellow decal? That's signs of wires wearing through their insulation and valve cover paint, and shorting to the valve cover.

More common than you can imagine.

Check that carefully, as that could cause what you're seeing.

The wires controlling the passenger-side injectors are:

tan/red
brown/yellow
tan
tan/black

The common return wire is orange.

Are any wires of these color codes chafed at all?

If your lucky stars are aligned just right, you may get out of this for the cost of a roll of Scotch 33+ (the best common electrical tape money can buy).
