Timing questions
I have replaced a 2001 2v 6.8l and having some issues with the timing positions. The timing chains that came out of the engine did not have any markings on them. I purchased a new set and they have marks that put the cam positions at about 11 and 1. some places that show the cam positions at 11 and 12. which one is the correct one?

The diagram I was able to find is below. It seems to indicate that the timing marks should be about 11 o'clock for the right bank, 1 o'clock for the left bank, and 6 o'clock for the crank. You're right in that it does contradict one of the other diagrams from Ford showing the left bank at 12 o'clock. If, however, you have your single link at 6 o'clock mark on the crankshaft, all the slack is out from the bottom of the left-side chain and the top of the right-side chain, and then the timing mark is between the double-marked links on the right and left sprockets, you're in time. Assuming, of course, that you haven't moved the cams or crank since taking the chains off -- if you're doing a full re-assembly, then you'd need to make sure that the cams are on the right rotation and not 180 degrees out since the cams are spinning at half engine speed.
My disclaimer is that while I've done plenty of timing belts and chains, I've not done the one on the 2v V-10 yet - but I have collected a bunch of research since I'm going to be doing that job in a couple days.
