no wts light/ no start
While fixing a brake light switch problem i left the ignition on for a while,
tried to start truck later and no wts light or glow plug controller operation.
Checked fuses and power to controller all are good any suggestions. Also can i jumper the relay on the controller to get the truck started?

No white wire on the 86 system.
86 is old style glow plug system.
Remove the purple wire and jump power to the terminal it came off of.
While you were working on the brake light problem, were you out behind the passenger side battery?
Any chance you knocked the black ground wire off the glow plug relay?
Any chance you broke the ground wire where it attaches to the fender?
The ground wire sort of daisey chains across the glow plug relay, metal mounting plate, voltage regulator, low vacuum sensor and starter solenoid to the fender.

Ok dave sorry for the mix up this is on my 94 , already have remote on my 86. tried removing the white wire and jumping to ground no luck. Tried jumping past fuseable link at starter solinoid no luck. Going to arkansas to kill deer with extreme prejudice, might ease the tension. I will get back after it mid-next week any thoughts till then would be great.
Thanks in advance

Use a test light and check out the wiring.
You should have battery power on the battery terminal at all times.
When the key is on, you should have battery power at the ignition terminal.
When you connect a ground wire to the white wire terminal with the key on, the relay should click.
Have you checked the glow plugs?
Burnt out glow plugs can keep the relay from cycling.

Well i fiixed the fusable link on the ignition wire had power for about 2 seconds. Blew the maxi fuse on the ignition wire!
Turns out i had a intermittent short on a wire running from the fuel shutoff valve to the cab, it ran under the injectior pump through the valley and shorted on a injector line. Just a coincidece it got grounded while working on something else. The wire must go to a alarm system i disconected some time back. Re-routed the wire bingo all is well.
Thanks for the help Dave.
