Numbering as Ford does, just like the diagram. But good question as Ford is different than GM and Chrysler.
Plow is off and it is in the garage ready for surgery.

Sorry, i though you were saying your heater hose was not on the passenger side by #3. I guess you ment its closer to the fenderwell. I just mentioned that because several people have had the heater hose crack or leak at the fitting and spray a mist toward #3 or #4 cylinder. If the leak is on #1 , 2, or 5 it is normally the crossover tube undr the intake. You normally dont hear much about #7 or 8.

No problem This probably isn't the right thread to post my question anyways but it seems like everyone who has dealt with the intake know quite a bit about coolant in the wells.
Pressure testing tomorrow, so we'll soon see.

I am new to forums so I hope I post this in the right place. I own a 1999 F-250 XLT 4X4 with the 5.4L motor. This project started Thursday when I took my truck to the so called mechanic to replace the heater hose pipe that on the back passenger side pressed into the intake manifold. He removed the old pipe by breaking it off and took a chisel to the pressed in pipe left inside the manifold replace the pipe with the new one from Ford by putting a wrench on the lip of the pipe and hammered it in. Long story short he cracked the intake. I went to the Ford dealership and they do not make a replacement intake manifold anymore when they did years ago it was $900 and I call Auto Zone/Advance Auto/ Napa/ Pep Boys ect no one has it. I have gone to several salvage yard and looked at different intake manifold that they said would work but the ports on my upper intake manifold are more squared the ones I am seeing are round. The salvage yards are saying my truck is the canadian model. I need help from the Ford gods.

Dorman makes an aftermarket manifold for the F150 - 5.4 motor. I owuld check that and see what you think it different. Best bet is to install this.

Question...I beleive my intake is fine, probabaly just the gasket around the crossover tube, If I get intake gaskets, what are the orings called that go around the crossover tube? Any gaskets to stay away from? I was going to just go to napa

I could not find a new intake manifold for my truck tried Auto zone, Advance,Napa, Pep Boys, and parts house. Found a plastic intake from a salvage yard the only difference was the tube for the water pump to heater core was in the front left passenger on the intake not in the rear passenger anymore. No more 90 degree pipe just a straight nipple.

look for damage to the manifold o-ring groove where the crossover bolts to the bottom. Flange on mine was damaged after the o-ring failed and leaking water cut the o-ring groove.

....So I got everything apart and I must say that my intake looked exactly like yours did Steve!! I will post pics once I figure out how to!! I ended up calling the local parts house and they had a Dorman, so I picked it up and came home and cleaned everything up really well...Only thing I had an issue with upon re-assembly was the injectors....It seems as though I really had to push them down until they "snapped" in? Truck fired right up, and one thing I noticed right away was that the idle was rough...at first I though I had a misfire. I Let it warm up and took it for a ride....didn't skip a beat until it comes to a stop, then its rough. I checked the IAC, and it is plugged in. I didn't have any issue before...truck always idle'd and ran well.....Now I'm at a loss...I saved myself some money by doing it myself, but now I have another issue...Ugh

The secret to install the injector rail is to put the o-rings on the injectors, then rum a little oil or vasaline on each. When you install the rail you just "push" evenly and it will pop into position. Secret is the lube. Sorry, cant help with the "problem".

.....UPDATE!! SO I was readin some posts on here about IAC issues and such...when a guy nailed it...he had said to check the pcv fitting in the back of the manifold...they like to crack and go bad. Then a light went off in my head...I got the Dorman intake and you have to "twist and lock" in the connector....Well nowhere in the papers does it say to put the o-ring that comes in the bag, on there......!! SO i just ran outside and started it up and can hear the thing hissing at me! I ripped the throttle body off to gain access to it, placed the o-ring on there and snapped it back in place....Wolla...truck purrs beautifully now! This group is a savior!! Thanks to all the great help and info!
