front differental won't come out?

Ok, I'm no dummy, I've done this before just not on this truck. 95 f350. I removed the axles from the front and unbolted the bearing caps on the diff gear. Then I proceed to ply, hammer, and even hook a strap around the diff gear and try to ratchet it out, but still no good. This thing is stuck in there. Am I missing something? Help!

It actually sounds like it was set up properly. Dana's require a housing spreader to set the gears up correctly. That's what the two holes on either side of the diff cover are for. Only option is to come up with a better pry bar, or get a housing/case spreader. I had one like you have before. I took the axle out, put it on jack stands. Then took an engine hoist, placed the legs OVER the axle tubes, wrapped a chain around the carrier. I pulled the hoist to a dead stop on the 2k setting. MAJOR, MAJOR tension on it. Tapped it with a ball peen hammer and the diff flew out of there with enough force to knock a hole in the roof of the shop, then took a nice chunk of concrete when it came down. DO NOT DO THAT!!! lol Good luck man, some are harder than others.

If its that tights to get out, I'm not sure you will be able to seat it again with out a spreader. I just did a d60 on mine--a 4' pry bar got it out and a 2x4 block and 2#deadblow back in. Good Luck
