Question Fuel Gauge issue 2005 F350

Last few fillups from near empty and it takes a day or so for it to slowly move up to full. Ford said to try unhooking the batteries next time it does it. Anyone else have this issue?

Yeah... mine just started doing that. I think because I left my key on while filling.

I have a 2006 F250 diesel and the same thing happened to me today for the first time. I have only seen this happen when a vehicle is left running while refueling. But mine was shut off with the key in my pocket. I was wondering at first if there was like an air bubble on the float ?
It is working fine now. Freaky !!!

My 03 F250 used to have the same issue. It started about 3 or 4 months after I bought the truck used (Feb 07). Sometimes it would register normally and sometimes it took several hours to register.

I tried various recommendations...fuel with the truck off (not running)...fuel with the key out...fuel when it's cooler out. The only thing I could find was that if I fueled with the truck running it was not going to read correctly for a while.

Finally the dealer ordered parts (the whole dash cluster, which surprised me) and did the install...and since then I've had no more problems. IF I fuel it while it's running I won't get a good read until I shut the truck off and restart.

Well the dealer was right, filled up last night, fuel gauge showed 1/4 tank all the way home. Unhooked the batteries and hooked back up. Gauge shot up to full. Glad it was a simply fix.

My friends F450 rollback does that ! if he leaves it running while fueling the gage barely moves and takes quite a while for it to come up! Its a Ford thing!!
