Lot's of people here are using it (Rotella) and really like it. I used to use there standard 15w $0 and got great results, now I use Schaeffers 9000 full synthetic 5w 40 now.

No but 5W-40 has to be better for the engine that 15w-40. I would use it but I just can't afford it. Wal-Mart has dino for around $12/gallon and I put so few miles on it now, I change it only once a year with 2K or so on the oil.

I'm using the Rotella 5w-40 synth with the Motorcraft filter and have no problems at all.

Your engine will love Rotella 5w-40.! Did not know Rotella made a diesel oil SAE 30. Ford shows only multi grades for our engines. Did it have the CG-4/SH or higher spec?

I've used the Rotella syn. Good stuff. I am currently running Delo regular for the summer. Going to go Schaeffers here soon for the winter. IMHO synthetic is the only way to go in the winter in our PSD engines.

Put the 5W-40 Syn Rotella in. It's a good oil, and easy to get. There are some other syn options out there (like Schaeffer 9000 or 7000), but Rotella is much easier to get. I also run a Motorcraft filter. Been using them for 20+ years now with no issues.

I use the Rotella 5W-40 syn. The two things I like best about it are the availability and the cold weather starts. No more romping on -5 degree mournings.

That's what I use, I guess because it's a good oil and easy to get. I shy away from the boutique oils because of the PITA it is to have to locate them, and I really hate Amsoil distributing practices. I use Donaldson filters with the Rotella.

I've used the Rotella 5w40 syn for a couple years now and my truck loves that stuff in the winter. Much easier and quiter starts, just sounds better for the engine. Plus, test shows it can be run longer between oil changes. I'm and 7000 miles and my last report says I can go more. Cost wise would probably be close if you figure the extra miles.

I use Rotella syn when I get the chance. Can't beat finding it at Wally World. Right now I'm using Delo dino (I got a great deal on some 5gal pails), but will probably go back when I'm done. My truck loves the Rotella syn, but it seems to like Delo dino over Rotella dino. I can only imagine what my oil leak would be like if I was using syn right now.

I use either the Motorcraft FL1995 or Mobil1 M1-601 oil filter. You can get them both at Wally World for around $10. One stop shopping!

I agree with spdmpo, boutique stuff for regularly scheduled maintenance is too much of a hassle for me too. It may be better in some cases, but the inconvenience more than offsets any cost/performance benefit I may get from it. Don't get me wrong, I don't just buy any generic stuff I can get my hands on, but it sure is nice to be able to stop on the way home from work and get what I need and only have to spare an extra 10 minutes of my life to do it.

Just my .02

I have a 2002 f350 dually with195000 miles on the clock. I had always ran rotella 15w40 since it was new, at 190000 miles i switched to rotella 5w40 synthetic, 300 highway miles later it was pouring out of my rear main seal, and the icp sensor went south also. pretty expensive oil change for me. maybe it was just bad luck, but i will never use synthetic oil in my truck again.

In the valley the leak could be from the HPOP, ICP (injection control pressure sensor on the left side of the HPOP), EBV (?) and maybe the turbo pedestal. My valley has a small pool and I'm almost positive that the HPOP has sprung a leak and from the dusting in the rear I know the pedestal is leaking. I removed the plug for the ICP and it was oily, so there's another fix on the list. I have to figure out where the EBP stuff runs to check that (I'm pretty sure that the tube is okay, but could use a good cleaning). When it rains, it pours (literally)! I've been having some seepage for a while, but now it's dripping so I'm going to have to go in there and fix it. At least it's on top of the engine so it stops leaking (eventually) when I shut it down!

Sorry for the
