Dip stick tube and dip stick

I'm trying to locate a dip stick tube and dip stick for my 460 that I'm putting in my '78 F250 4x4. The pan is rear sump out of an '85 F250 and is threaded. Local Ford dealer only shows front sump pans on his computer. We also went up and down several years and tried E250's with no luck. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

I take it that you don't have the dipstick and tube from that 85 F250? If you do have it, use it, it came with that motor. In the 70's 460s were only put into 2wd trucks. For some reason the 2wd trucks use front sump oil pans. 4wd's need rear sump. Putting a 460 where a 351M/400 used to be is a common swap in 77-79 4x4's. L&L seems to specialize in the goodies needed for this swap. A van dipstick would be funky as they are designed to come all the way forward and above the motor to be accessed by the van hood.

Ive got a 460 in my 78. I recently had to replace the timing cover and dipstick tube - since the tube goes through the timing cover. Does your timing cover have a provision for a dipstick tube? If so, there is a guy that sells that style on ebay. I bought one and it works fine.

Thanks hp246 but that's the push-in style. My pan has female threads.

How bout this one?

If not, you might want to try these guys. I've dealt with them and they are pretty knowledgeable about everything Ford related.

You are welcome. I went through this except I did a nation wide search to find the other tube that goes through the timing cover. Never did find one, but was able to re-furbish the old one.
