Have a 1955 F-250, took the old Rockwell out years ago, put in a Dana 60, I think it was a 1968, there are numbers on the tag on the rearend that I believe tell me that it is a 1968 (C8TA-NG) other numbers that I see: 030255
gear ratio 3.73 some other numbers 603045-5. The five's could be S's hard to tell. Anyone know what all the numbers mean?

 

You've pretty much figured everything out. 603045-5 is the B.O.M number that Dana uses. If you look it up in their catalog it just lists the parts used originally.

Need similar info right now. Already know I want 67-69 rear for my 53 250. Paid salvage yard for that, was told it was camper special. When I got it, its 78-79 .. They are working with me, they say they have several. What stamped numbers can I tell them to look for. Not trusting them now. thanks.

There's no such thing as a specific F250 Camper Special Dana 60.

The same (16 spline axle shaft) rear axle was used on all 1961/72 F250's (2WD/4WD), and on...

1973/77 F250 4WD's aka High Boys (1977: before serial #Y20,001), because these trucks have the same distance between the rear frame rails as 1961/72's: 33 1/2"

1973/79 F250 2WD's and non High Boy 1977 F250 4WD's (from serial # Y20,001) / All 1978/79 F250 4WD's have rear frame rails 37 1/2" apart.
