from what i read, the F-series are very easy to break into. there's a product called the jimmi jammer which prevents the B&E, but they still mess up your door.

My son has a newer Chevy Colorado Z-71 Pick Up with a factory Immobilizer. He also uses a truck club for the steering wheel. A couple of months ago his truck alarm went off and when he went outside to check out his truck, there was still a jimmy in between the window and the door.

The would be thief had taken off. He got in his truck all was well..I guess the Immobilizer alarm scared off the guy. His GM On Star told him when (time) the attempted unsuccessful break in took place.

My son tells me that his GM On-Star also has a built in GPS and that the police can track the truck down through the GM satellite. I'm not sure but On Star might also be able to shut down the truck's ignition if somehow the crook is able to defeat the immobilizer.

Mike, that somehow never happens! I hoped for the same thing on many occasions. With my luck, it would be the day after replacement insurance lapses!

I really don't know why Ford hasn't puts the PATS system on the Superduties. The Explorer has had it since 1997 and most of there cars.

It wouldn't be terribly hard to add it to your existing truck. Just need the PATS control box from a 1997-98 Explorer as it was still separate from the ECM and wire it into the starter circuit.

2008 model year super duties now have the PATS system, but yeah it seems a bit late to me considering its been out for 10 years already.
