2000 F250 7.3l cheap mods
Hey all again,
I just did the '6637' that a lot of people have done to their trucks, just need to get a cover now... Anywho, I'm needing exhaust, I have been looking at the cheap MBRP 4in turbo back? Any good? I dont know you guys are the pros... I have about a $400 budget, ( I know I'm a tight a**) I might be getting a tony wildman chip if that helps, just need something for the truck to exhale better, doesnt need to be fancy at all...
Thanks a lot
Mike
And then any advice on gauges? I've heard analog are better...Any good ones you guys have had good luck with? Thanks again

a 4" exhaust will work well. you could save a couple bucks by getting the aluminized version then protect it by coating the outside with some high temp paint. i think i got my 4" stainless silverline system from dustys diesel with the muffler delete pipe for 450. you might want to check and see what riffraff can do for you as well.....

I am getting the bug to fuss around with my truck as well.
I know 4 weeks ago when I bought it I said I was not goig to do anything to it.
How loud will it be if i just take off the stock muffler and run 3 1/2" pipe out the side infront of rear wheel. Will it reduce the EGT? make any more power, or anything at all except noise.

Power increase will be slight. Opening the intake and exhaust will have very little affect on power. Yes, some increase, but not much. Most of us hardly notice it. What those modifications do is help set you up to install a chip that will take advantage of those mods. While you certainly can install a chip on a stock intake and exhaust truck, it will be severely limited because of the restrictions in the intake and more importantly, the exhaust.

Well I put a 3.5in pipe in place of the muffler tonight and she sounds nice to me, hardly any cab noise at all...This next question will be dumb, please forgive me as I am new to the powerstroke world! My truck is stock other than my goofy 6637 intake and straight pipe, I got 113,00 miles on it, and was wondering how much smoke is normal? Just cruising up a hill with cruise on I notice smoke in the headlights behind me, not a lot, but you get the idea... Just curious if I need to look into an injector tune up...
Thanks for bearing with me!

Forgive my manors, but a WELCOME TO FTE is in order here!
OK, As for smoke, I wouldn't worry about it. Injector issues are usually more noticeable by a rough idle, or worse yet a dead miss. Injector O-rings are very noticeable at start up with a bunch of white/blue smoke that usually fades as the engine warms up.
It's a diesel, she's suppose to smoke a little.

I personally went with the supporting mods route.
Stainless high pressure crossover (HPX)
4" exhaust (ebay is your friend if you want cheap..I paid 260shipped for aluminized)
New filters, oil, trans, and air
Coolant bypass filter
Ill be doing many mods to my truck now, turbo got trashed so the upgrades and fixin begins.

If you want to improve things, start looking for exhaust leaks at the up-pipes, broken tube that goes to the exhaust pressure sensor.
I'm pretty sure you are going to find some black streaks.
Get all that fixed, then adjust the wastegate valve so it won't begin to open until you reach 10-12 psi.
No more smoke and a lot better running engine.

Yes if you want cheap, ebay is your best friend. I only paid $350 for my MKO 5inch system.
