Smile living the dream, driving the 56 f600 on frwy.

I've owned the f600 since 1995 and have always wanted to be able to drive on the freeway without holding up traffic and screaming the 272 y-block, feeling, like the engine was going to jump out of the hood. After a year and a half of saturdays I now have a 56 f600 with a 5.9 cummins diesel from a 94 f700, fuller fs5306 6sp main trans. from a 95 f750 + spicer 6041 aux. trans. swapped out the eaton 2sp 6.33-8.81 ratio for a dana 80 with a 3.31 ratio from a 99 freightliner mt45. I drove on the freeway, 130 miles round trip to visit my parents and pick up some firewood. Its was fun and a I got a few smiles as well. Its a little noisy inside the cab with the straight pipe but alot of fun rowin through the gears. cruise 62 @1800rpm with one more gear to go. (6th in main and direct in the aux.) shifting into the OD gear in the aux. trans. I will drop 500 rpm. I am still working out the little bugs but very happy with the conversion so far!

Great news-I'm sure that's a good feeling after all those weekends. I don't know how to put all the right combos together like you have but it sounds like she's dialed in with those RPM at the speed, Smiles are like payday to me. I'm not on the road yet, but someday....

That awesome I hope to get mine on the freeway one of these days. There is nothing like looking down through your windshield and seeing a big fat round hood with the steady bounce leaf springs bouncing you off your seat. do you have any pics of your setup.

first mpg check = 20 mpg

I took a very small roadtrip this week, combination city, highway, stop n go traffic 141 miles 7gal. of fuel = 20 mpg I'm very happy with that as its twice what I was getting with the 272 y-block ...note: truck weights 10k plus I was hauling 3/4 cord of firewood for half the trip... shifting, smiling, & listening to the straight pipe, what a day.
