Fueling problem

Can someone tell me why I cannot fuel my truck without first putting the gas in a container then slowly pouring it in? I figure the vent line is plugged somewhere, maybe? So I traced the vent line all the way to the back of the truck up underneath the spare tire in to some kind of plastic component that has other hoses and wires hooked to it. It appears there is a sensor in it.
Can someone tell me what this is as well?
Thanks in advance!

I had this problem with my 05. I could only get 2 gallons in before the filling pump shut off. It was a real pain because it took so long to fill the tank. The service manager said it will eventually throw a code and affect things like power and mileage - not too sure how unless it also affects the fuel feed to the engine. It was under warranty and the dealer knew right away what it was and was able to fix it. I'll see if I can find the paperwork and post later to let you know what the part was.

I'd appreciate that info because that's the problem I'm having.

OK here you go. This is what they did and it fixed mine.
TSB 072313C

Installed 7C3Z 9049 A : Tube - Ventilation
Installed 6C3Z 9D653 F : Cannister - Fuel Vapour ST
Installed 8C3Z 9030 A : Cap ASY - Fuel Tank Filler
Replaced EVAP Cannister & Fueld Cap per TSB 07-23-13

Hope that gets you fixed up - it did on mine.

Thanks for the info. If you don't mind, could you tell me what they charged you to fix that?

It was under warranty at the time, so I have no idea. Sorry. They had it less than a day, so it couldn't be too bad.
