I'm going to be in the market for a new v10 next year. I won't buy a diesel and really don't want anything to do with a first year engine.
Kinda sad if they do, I bought my '00 brand new and has been a great running truck. I would love to buy another (need a crew cab!) in a heartbeat but if the 10 is done, I might have to retire my fte account.
If I found a used one with everything I want at the right price, then I'd be sold.

My new 09 V-10
I cant wait for my new V-10,I get it late next week (pictures then) It was the last White XLT long box crew cab 4x4 auto left in Western Canada, I was a diesel guy two 7.3L and then a 2004 6.0L that has put me off diesels. This forum really helped me out with my decision beacause the dealers at Ford couldnt figure out why I wanted to skip the 6.4 and wait 4 years for the 6.8L or maybe just hang tight with the V-10 sound like a great engine and it could be gone soon. The pictures will be posted on the V-10 thread.

New V 10
just picked up my new 09 superduty this morning. Have 67 miles on it and so far loving the 10cyl. As I said in a past post I will keep you informed of v 10 production well we have gone through v 10 float and will start making v10s on monday morning. Bob King, VP of the UAW came to see us on friday and rumor has it that the v10 will be in for the whole 2010 run. Will keep you informed.

The 2008 and up Superduty are beautiful, tough looking trucks. I have had mine for a little over a year now, and am completely in love with this truck. To me, the pre 2008's look dated.
However, everyone is allowed to their own opinion. Since Ford owns about 50% of the HD market, however, it would seem that you are outnumbered.
That said, feel free to get the Dodge............. then you to can have a great engine, surrounded by a subpar truck. BTW, I qualify that by owning an auto repair and towing business for 9 years.
This is Rick's wife, btw, and the daily driver of our 2008 F250 CrewCab 4x4 V10 Lariat............ which we will probably keep forever.
Redwing, thank you for the information, and for being a critical part, in the life of a V10. I love my engine, love my truck, and will be heartbroken the day they take the 6.8 out of the Superduty.

The f250 cc 4x4 v-10 is the way for me to go......The more I read on these motors the more I want one, it fits my needs...dont tow enough for a diesel, but when I tow I need a good motor....the v10 has all I need and some, plus its about 6000-8000 cheaper.....now if I can get washington state to get some v10's that would be great.....lakewood ford in lakewood wa, SUCKS..... said I cant order one, they want me to buy off their lot.....a 5.4 um no...or the 6.4 no thank you.......

The Dealers Like to sell the big dollar Diesels so don't belive a word they say. If you check the FORD Order guides THE V-10 was available in every state for ALL years of V-10 production. There were some limits on stick shift 6.8/5.4 stuff due to FORD not wanting to EPA certify them for the short 07 run but that was it.
All the V-10 N/A Blah Blah were rumors, rumors, rumors as time has proven.

I know a guy that did not want the 6.4, he wanted the V10 in a top of the line lariat 4x4 long bed DRW crew cab F350, they flatly refused so he got a dodge with a cummins in it.
dealer really came out ahead on that one by forcing the diesel.
