Anyone hear when Ford will stop making the V-10?
I am wondering when the V-10 will stop production. I just read in a truck mag that Ford is coming out with a 6.2L gas engine to replace the V-10. I presently have a 6.0L and am considering a change to the V-10. I don't want to buy right now but if they are going to stop making them soon, I might reconsider. Anyone know what Ford plans?

According to my dad (fleet manger for a local truck dealer), the last year for the V10 in the Super Duties is 2010. The 2010s will be a short model run with order books probably closing by the end of August this year. 2011s will hit the dealers in February 2010. As of now, it looks like only 2 engines. The New 6.7 diesel and the new 6.2 V8 gas. No news on the 7.0 version of the new V8 gas motor.
The V10 will continue to be offered in the E series platforms for the 2011 model year.

Not that it amounts to a hill of beans, but I've heard they plan a 7.0L version of that 6.2L to replace the V10. But that's just rumor and smoke and mirrors, methinks.
I'd really REALLY hate to see Ford go from 467ft/lbs in the 3-valve V10 to only 400ft/lbs on the 6.2L. Although someone has said when the 6.2 actually hits the market, it won't be only 400ft/lbs.
But then, 8 cylinders, versus 10 cylinders, will always mean less low-end torque. Dunno... going to be interesting to watch.
And especially what they do with the F450/550 chassis.

I'm literally crying as I read this thread. I LOVE my V10, especially how unique it is compared to everything else on the market. Yeah, V8s are great, but in the end, how many can say they got a badass V10 that can keep up with the diesels. Plus, I love how it sounds like a pissed off V6, totally different from every other sound on the market.

Yes I know. You were one of the crowd who said the V-10 was dead in 2006.
And also Remember all that You Can't get a V-10 in California Blah blah blah . Then I order my California 07 V-10 and all was quiet. Then The V-10 was dead for sure in 2008 . NOT.
We Know for sure the F53 Chassis get's it for 2011. I do think the V-10 Is near the end of the line in the S/D trucks but not because of the reasons you think. FORD will want to push the heck out of there new In House FORD 6.7 Diesel.
In Truck/Motorhome/Chassis Aplications with no Diesel option you will get the V-10.
Look up all the Flaming that I received about my predition that the V-10 would live on past 2006 and in california. It was really something.
I ended up being spot on, you were miles off target

Dodge and Chevy also jumped on the small V8 gasser bandwagon for their 3/4 and 1 ton trucks. Seems like Ford wants to do the same with the 6.2l. Pushing their new 6.7l diesel makes sense because of the potential profit, even though I suspect the 6.7l will be full of problems. I guess we will find out about this time next year.

I would not worry to much about it, unless you was in the market for a new truck. They also quit making the Excursion, but that doesn't stop people from buying them like mad. Parts for the V-10 will be around for a long time. This is a very unique vehicle in my opinion. I love the power of the V-10, and I really like my X and will hold on to it until it rusts out underneath me. Then I will pull the Engine out and set it on a stand just so I can admire that beast. Big time X and Excursion fan.

I remember Captchas being that way, though.
The problem at the time was that the 3-valve V10 did not have an EGR and California had weight requirements beginning in 2007 of up to 14,500lbs GVWR needing an EGR. Reading the law at the time, it looked like the V10 wasn't going to be sold in the "green" states, and it was actually NOT AVAILABLE in those states according to dealers at the time.
Anyway...
