How come the space shuttle uses solid rocket fuel instead of diesel?

NASA has had a huge budget cut, and even with all you mentioned, they still figured it was cheaper than the maintenance on a diesel.

If it weren't for diesel trucks y'all gassers wouldn't get your grocery getter trucks. I see big rigs delivering vehicles at dealerships.

I wouldn't start comparing a commercial diesel (real diesels) to the toy diesels in your pickups, the only thing they share is compression ignition but that's where it ends. If you ever had a real diesel apart and see how they are built you would know what I mean.

Yes I know what you mean, this is all in fun so calm down. I posted awhile back that BOTH engines serves a purpose. But for towing 20k pounds like I do the only engine for me is a "toy" diesel. Smh, fun how these toy diesels make more power then the real diesels and these new "real" diesels have just as many problems as the toy diesels cause of the emissions stuff.

There was nothing in his message that indicated any type of anger or anything else.

Let's all play nice.

I've had em all apart, 5.9 Cummins or dt360 are miniature versions of just about any big 6 in a commercial vehicle. Hell, they even put them in huge vehicles.

And they put the 6.7 PSD in medium duty trucks also. RE F650/750, along with the 6R140 transmission.
The 5.9 started life basically as a tractor engine

This thread rages on .... drive what you want, there's enough information out there to make an informed decision. Personally if I towed heavy and often then the diesel is the right wrench for the job, if I towed lighter and less frequently but wanted a big truck to handle the load a gasser would be that right size wrench.

I was telling him to calm down on his remark about super duty diesels being "toy" diesels. So I wasn't being rude or anything. But I love seeing mods looking out for mods. Smh.

The fuel filter replacement on diesels for me gets old. I just spent $157 on my ram front and rear fuel filters.

Do it yourself and save money. On the 6.7 it cost me 60 dollars.

That was me doing it. That was the price for the two filters.
