Motorcraft 2150 Questions
Hey Guys..new here and I hope you can help me. I am restoring a Jeep CJ 7......I know its not a Ford, but please read on. A very common upgrade is the ignition with Motorcraft parts from the Ford 300. Jeep used the Ford distributor and using these parts pep up the 258. I have read that another popular upgrade is the 2100 carb. I got a 2150A (E47E-TA) carb with the 1.08 venturis which is the recommended veenturi size by those who have done the swap. The one I have seems to be an "electronic" style. It has an electric choke which is fine, but it also has a "feedback control assembly" and a "temperature compensated pump". Are those smog stuff? Can I run it smog free? The guy I bought it from said it was from a Bronco and I assumed it was from an older one, but it turns out it was from an 84 Bronco II. Are these two models or years interchangeable or am I better off looking for an older 2100/2150 with electric choke. I do not have deal with any smog rules due to it's age and I want to keep the engine bay clean with only the necessary vacuum lines. I know its not going a Ford, but I figured you guys would know. Older Jeeps are almost Ford anyway! If I need to look for another one..any ideas of what models to look for or maybe one of you may have one to sell? Sorry about the long post and thanks for the time...oh by the way, my first truck after the Jeep was a 88 F-150, then an 04 F-350, and now a 04 F150 4dr Lariat so I am a Ford man at heart.

Look for a older one. late 60 and 70s are what you want. Check out http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/index.php Realy common swap and a ton of info on the 2100 and 2150 on there.

I've heard a lot of complaints with the feedback versions. I'd look for something in the early 70s. The good news is that they're easy to find, and fairly cheap.
I'm not sure about the temperature compensated pump; what's it look like? Some late model 2150's have a device on the air horn that leans out the idle mixture at high temperatures, which increases the idle speed and turns the water pump faster, thereby cooling the engine slightly. I'm not sure if that's what you're looking at though.
