52 Ford bed

Can anyone tell me where to find some good pictures of a 52 Ford pickup bed, maybe someone has already downloaded them onto this site somewhere and can tell me how to find them or maybe someone woldnt mind sending them to my e-mail of jhason2@yahoo.com. I plan to build a bed for my F-7 and want to duplicate the look of the smaller trucks bed. Does anyone know if there are repro tailgates avail or rear fenders? Thanks

I think building your own is the right idea. Like was said, keeping it proportioned to the bigger truck is gonna be important. The only pieces you'd be able to source from the suppliers mentioned (or even not mentioned) would be half ton pieces which to my mind would look out of place. You could use the F-2 or F-3 eight foot Express bed, but you'd have to pull one off a donor truck. And even then it might look too small. Here's a pic of an F-5 that a guy built his own bed for. Our Bob Jones has seen the truck and says it looks great.

Thats a great pict, do you have one from the side? Dave I am pricing 1/8 flat steel at this point at around 87 a sheet, that is 4 by 10, almost enough to do a side, the actual length we will need is more like 11 feet long, assuming yours is the same length, I am thinking of having someone brake the side at the top to give it the lean and then welding solid pipe at edge to give it the roll. At this point not having much luck finding rear fenders, 525 a pair for glass, not crazy about glass especially for that price but may have no choice, tailgate steel is about 300, more like it but I dont know the quality of it.
Defanitely want it proportinate for the truck, want it to look like it was made for it originally or as close as I can get it without spending a ton of dollars.
This is all in my head at this point, got any better ideas anyone

There were two boxes available on 52 trucks - the 6 1/2 foot "Pick-up" box and the 8 foot "Express Box." The Pick-up box only came on the F1.

The rest had the larger box.

I have lots of pictures in my gallery for "Salesmans Handbook Scans."

Also, I have a gallery dedicated to Pick-up Box Bed. I'm sure it has all the pictures you need. You may want to look in the galleries. The picture posting here is still AFU and it has resized them really small. Also there are lots of good pictures and th elink att he bottom.

Here's a few.

For anything bed related including parts, beds and info you want to go to "Mar-K" who is a site sponsor. All USA made and free shipping. Here is their link:

Lastly, there was a thread about a month ago on the same thing. Here's the link to it.

To clarify, when Julie says "the rest" had the Express box, that only means the F-2 and F-3. The F-4/5/6 only came as a cab/chassis, flat bed, or with other aftermarket bed. The F-2 and F-3 were 122" wheel base while the F-4/5/6 were either 134 or 158".

That is the only pic Bob has shared with us of the blue F-5. We'd like to see more of it too. Stu

1/8" steel is WAY heavy for a bed, why not 14 gauge? For the floor, wood would work but you can generally find junkyard modern beds with mangled fenders and cut out the floor, much stronger and cheaper.

Thanks for all the great info and the pict. I have a better plan now, the reason I was considering using the heavier steel is to add a little weight to the back of the truck, with the stock set-up that is there now you hit a bump and the rear wheels feel like they come up in the air. I know it might not be the the most logical way to approach this problem but I am trying to consider what sort of weight the truck would have originally had back there to keep it on the road.
