Fett Affen is starting off with a positive reputation.
methanol odor

I have a fairly strong methanol odor in my finished bio. I use 20
% methanol, KOH, 2-stage processing, drywash with Purolite and pass the 3/27 and shakem-up tests. Bio is clear, but opening up a drum lid and the fumes are potent. Is this normal to have this smell this strong and will the methanol cause any problems?

the methanol will cause preignition in the engine. all of the methanol should be removed by the wash i would think. I distill my bio and glycerin to recapture any residual methanol.

Even with distillation, some methanol remains in mine also. However after Magnesol wash it is not near as strong.
