I have an 02 Explorer that the tachometer and speedometer are being intermittent. Sometimes they work for awhile sometimes they don't or they just bounce around seemingly independent of each other although about he same time. This vehicle has been off-road and down many bumpy dirt roads in its 160,000 miles

Odometer and cruise control are not affected at all and stay true which leads me to believe it is not the computer or a sensor, unless they get there signal elsewhere.

I'm going to pull the cluster, clean the connectors, and look for broken board solders. Any other help or thoughts would be appreciated.

Pulled the cluster, cleaned all connectors, inspected all the solder joints to no avail.

So it probably the computer or a connection to it. Oh well just I'll continue to use my GPS for now for speedometer.
