Cat and Muffler Delete or Not

I've been thinking of deleting my Cat and Muffler but wanted to get some opinions and/or expert advice on this matter.
A friend of mine says that my truck will sound like, well, the things we sit on.
Posts I find on the web says it sounds good.

I'm looking for a fairly quiet idle (what is considered quiet for a diesel ) but don't want to blow windows out when I stomp it.

I know an after marked exhaust will do what I want it to and want to move to a 4" exhaust when I have the money but atm I'm broke. I just borrowed 600 bucks from my parents to fix my exhaust leak on my up pipes.

Currently stock exhaust is 3.5"

Any thoughts?

I've been running a 4" nonmuffed exhaust for 2 yrs now .Its not that loud at idle and it's not to loud till you stand on it. I say do it you will wonder why you didn't sooner.

Here's a very short clip but its all I have Just a little noise video by 1996pwrstrk - Photobucket

Thanks for that video. Straight exhaust it is. My buddy seemed to think that by getting rid of the cat and muffler that I could damage something due to a lack of back pressure.
I guess it's my turn to educate him.

You do not need or want backpressure on a diesel. I wish I had some video running her through the gears it's sounds great in the truck with the windows down, and my son say's it fantastic hearing it going down the road.
