External plain window graphic film???
Hi all:
I've done some searches and have not turned up anything on this. I have an E150 with factory tinted glass but am looking for a bit more privacy and sun-proofing.
I realize that I could simply go with an additional layer of window tint on the inside, but have also seen the perforated exterior graphic film on lots of buses, and even pickup back windows--but it is typically printed with graphics.
My van is white, and I think that using white film on the outside would both look good and reflect a lot of sun away from the van. This morniing, I just saw a commercial minivan that had some of the windows covered with plain white perforated film...so it's out there.
Does anyone know of any sources for this perforated exterior stuff? Companies that make the raw material?
I'm in the Detroit area and will start a phone calling campaign in the next few days, but if anyone has any leads for plain white window graphic film, that would help me out.
Thanks in advance,
George

Window Canvas has a Design your own feature. It's not cheap, but they could make one that is all white or you can add any graphics you like to it. Welcome to Window Canvas

I'm absolutely sure that these places start with plain white material and print onto it...I'm gonna try to find one locally per the first poster's suggestion. If all else fails, I'll just add another layer of 20% dark tint on the inside or something, but the idea of more white on the outside is still appealing for heat rejection.
Thanks for the ideas,
George

Unless your going to a vinyl shop, the big names are window canvas, glasscapes and Guy Harvey. The guy harvey is a little nicer than the others (if you like fish and) because they cover the perforated vinyl with clear vinyl so water doesn't sit in the little holes as badly.
I wouldn't bother with the automotive side just because they will most likely point you to one of those three. A vinyl shop may have access to preperforated vinyl, or at least they should be able to cut holes in a big sheet.
