Want to level my 99 F-250. Do I need the early or late model 99 leveling kit?

I want to install a leveling kit on my 99 F-250 4x4. According to the info on the inside of the drivers door, my truck was built in 03/99. Does anyone know if I need to order the early or late model 99 leveling kit? Also does anyone have a recommendation on what brand to get?

Thanks
B.

If your truck was built on 3/22/99' or later its a late model 99'.I have a Tuff Country 2 1/2" leveling kit on mine and I really like it.It rides a little rougher but not too bad.I think when I bought mine [2003']the kit was the same for either 99' model. They have different kits for gas or diesel. If I remember right the only difference was the bolt that hooks the track bar onto the drop bracket was different. The kit came with both bolts so it would work on either one.One good thing about the Tuff Country kit is the drop bracket has a slotted hole for track bar so you can get the axle centered without the use of an adjustable track bar.

I just installed a Procomp 2 1/2" kit on my 04 last weekend. I'm really impressed with the ride improvement in the leaf springs. It rides softer but with more control. The weekend I've started installing an add a leaf kit in the rear to bring up the back a bit. Both kits are from Procomp and came with everything and some decent instructions.

IIRC there is a rather significant difference between an early 99 F250, and a 99.5 Super Duty F-250, such as one is a SD, and one isn't. I would assume that early F250 kits are for the OBS and the late F250 kits are for the SD body style

There is not that many differences between 99' and 99.5' F-250 Super Duties. They're both Super Duties,Ford changed some parts on the diesels [air box, turbo, etc.]and some steering componets [hub bearings,rotors,etc.].I don't think Ford had a light duty F-250 in 99' ,but I could be wrong.

I would say early. The two main differences are smaller track bar and ubolts. The ubolts for an early model are flat or square across the top. The new ones have a more rounded shape.

There is a difference. Mine was built 12/98. I bought the Icon mini pack and the U-bolts were wrong. Mine has different lengths between the inside and outside. The kit came with four that were all the same length. I just had a spring shop make me four new ones. It was only about $40 and they made them while I waited.

Thanks everyone. I believe now that I have an early build due to the fact that the U-bolts are flat across the top. That means I ordered the wrong leveling kit and will have to return it now.

Don't confuse an early 99 F250 Super Duty with the 99 F250 LIGHT DUTY, 2 totally different critters.
usmcBTC- don't despair just yet. You may be able to just get the proper U-bolts instead of having to swap the whole kit.

Pick up some F350 rear blocks. That should get you back to level/slightly rear high.

I decided to go with an add-a-leaf leveling kit from Rough Country. It all ready came in but didn't come with much, just the new leafs and center pins. Does anyone know if I'll need a track bar relocation bracket?
