E1se cylinder head
Hey guys I have a cylinder head with E1SE, 12, AA all on the under side of the head. Can anyone tell me how good this head is and what motor it is for. Here are some pics.
And can someone tell me what this port is for? Its really clogged up with carbon and junk and I was trying to find out what was causing it.
Thanks guys

How are you expecting anybody here to tell you much of anything by merely looking at
pictures? Perhaps if you were to fly somebody and their tools out to your place to inspect
it, then you'd know more. A knowledgeable engine builder needs to clean, measure &
inspect everything using various micrometers & dial gauges & other, specialized tools to
determine things such as valve stem to guide clearance and compare the readings to
OEM specs. About the only thing I can tell you about those pictures:
- It's obvious nobody changed the oil in that engine very frequently - look at all the gunk
built up in the valley & rocker arm areas.
- Two of the cylinders on that head were operating differently than the other two, though
it's hard to tell why from pictures. The two leftmost cylinders look reasonably good but
the two on the right have a black buildup and the valves are brown? What is that
build-up, carbon or oil? Is that rust on the valves? Or fuel? Or what? Is the head in this
condition because of leaking valves/valve guides or rings? Or something else?
If you're seriously considering working on this engine, take everything to a good Ford
engine builder, have him boil & inspect it, should cost about $200.

Thanks guys I found out I pretty much have a 500 lb paper weight. I found out the motor is not a 302 but a 255 4.2L, that sucksa big one. I'm not gonna put my time and money into a pos that will get crappy gas milage and peak out at about 110 hp. So I guess I'm just gonna buy a short block and build a real motor. Any suggestions are welcome.
