A chance to go to 4wd from 2wd...
I normally wouldn't post such a radical swap here (due to sounding Crazy ).
But I Might Possibly... have a chance to get my hands on an '06 complete working front end which is 4wd.
The truck was considered "totalled" due to a section of the rear chassis is mildly bent (about a 12" section). The pssgr side of the bed was also flattened over at about a 30 degree angle. So the cab, tranny, motor and everything else is intact and working. Heck the truck still moves under its own power.
Its a '06 S-crew...4.6L 4wd... XLT (it maybe be a Lariat too)
My current: '05 ReCab 4.6L 2wd
I've even thought about possibly having a body shop friend of mine help me do a chassis stretch and putting my LB on with the crew cab... He's done a few Nav and Hummer stretches... claims it shouldn't be too much different. I would have to keep my payload weight in-check though- I'm sure it may be deminished from my current set-up. Its just way too easy to fill up my 8' bed with heavy items.
How crazy am I?

Well the only thing I would most like be paying for is welding material and well maybe custom paint if I choose to go that route (such as House Of Colors or some sort of Camilion paint). Since my buddy has a body shop to use, he would like to have a chance at it just so he could add it to his portfolio. The donor truck to me would be $0 and the shop material costs $? .
My buddy also mentioned something about having some steel "slugs" that he bought from a company just for this purpose. They are to slide inside the box frame and are approx 1 meter lg, then they have the matching sandwich plates that go on the outside of the box frame. Then its all welded and bolted together. Then back to the frame machine to make sure its straight and square.
Right now everything rides on the owner of the donor...
