2005 F250 w/6.0 will I need head gaskets??

I am looking at buying a 2005 F250 Crew Cab Lariat with 77,000 miles.
Will I need head gaskets? The truck checks out Ok now, but what are the chances for head gaskets?
It will be mainly a daily driver putting on approx 25,000 miles a year. I will tow our 32' fifth wheel maybe 6-8 times no further that 150 miles 1 way.
I dont plan on doing any performance mods.
What % of truck have failures?

Thanks

It is hit or miss 06-07 are said to have different tty bolts but that as far as I know is a rumor. If you tow keep an eye on you egt's and watch your coolant level.... If it start fluxuating find out why don't put that off.... There are a lot of very reliable 6.0 out there mine is a 04 I have 102k and the only issue was a turbo cleaning and replacing a egr and oil cooler. The oil cooler was replace after I bought the truck the other was 50-60k. As long as you keep up the maintence with regular oil changes (injectors do not like dirty oil) and change the fuel filters you should be fine also do a oasis report before you buy to find out what warranty history it has

05 with 77k on it should be a good investment, provided the oasis comes back clean.itll pull your trailer no problem, but like posted above maintanance is key.

No question - they all have the same torque-to-yield bolts.

I have an 05 F-350 and have not had any problems except for the turbo over boosting. If the truck has not had a tuner and if you keep an eye on the boost it should be ok. I believe those two things have probably contributed to more head gaskets than anything else.

I dont know if it had a tuner or not. This is at a dealer at they dont know (or dont say) what the history is. I was worried it was a puller, but I dont any indication it had a 5th wheel or gooseneck hitch.

should be good to go then. like they say watch that coolant level and if no one told you already the low mark on the factory bottle is actually the high line when hot. check it when its hot. dot not add to the top line hot or cold cause it'll blow it out and then you'll be worried. trust me on that one.lol.

I wouldn't be too worried about head gaskets the ones in my 03 F-450 are original. Aslong as the truck has never had some kind of tuner on it you should be good to go.

That is not totally true, many factory tuned trucks have and will still blow headgaskets, need to keep an eye on boost levels as overboosting was and still is a major contributor to the head gasket issues.

Agreed. Keep an eye on boost and don't drive it hard until it's fully warmed up and you'll be fine.
