I was told to take the radiator cap off and put a rubber glove or balloon on there and see if it would inflate to see if it was getting presser from an outside source cheaper but not as specific.

The system works under pressure and boiling coolant can cause puking(more pressure than the cap can hold),so the presence of combustion gasses in the coolant is the only way to check for a leaking head gasket.
