Park assist on a lot of the early F150 were kind of eratic. Without full diagnostic it is pretty hard to determine. I would suggest first checking that the sensors are clean, correctly seated, and make sure the connectors are not full of dirt or not seated properly in back of the sensor. I found a lot of these had swollen dust seals that would actually PUSH the connector out and fail to lock in fully. I removed the swollen rubber gasget from the connector and applied a little dielectric to seal them and reseated them fully. This corrected a lot of the failures.

04 F150 had issues with the outside temp sender that simply required an updated program of the PCM.

If your temp control is as eratic as described it may need a new blend door controller. Have your dealer do a climate control diagnostic to be sure.

If the seat only moves a few inches on the passenger side it may have a coin or other object jamming up the track.

Well I hope the new cluster fixed it for you, but I havent had to replace but maybe one of those. The fuel sender on some models has a flex fuel sensor. Some techs only replace the sender without the flex fuel sensor. This can cause repeat repair problems as well. Sulfur contamination has been a big problem in certain areas of the country. Sometimes you just have to try different service stations to find better quality fuel. Sometimes it is as simple as the change in weather and they change fuel formulations.

We have a lot of hit and miss complaints about the fuel guages, some are customer misunderstandings, some are technicians not well experienced with the issues, and some are parts or fuel quality issues. Isolating the correct issue sometimes takes a couple or three trips unfortunately.

They told me that there is a short in the instrument cluster that is why it is needing replacement.

Clusters usually dont take more than a day or two. They do have to reset the odometer for the dealer and then ship it. PROVIDED one is in stock.

Yeah they wouldn't allow me to take the truck until the cluster is replaced so that I don't put miles on it and the miles not register on the odometer.

Each dealer has its own policies I guess. We will allow you to take your vehicle because sometimes it is a MONTH or even several months before we get the replacement. If it takes a long time they just request a mileage check and adjust the mileage to the new current reading. If its just a couple weeks they dont worry about it.

Sometimes the owners think they are smart and run up loads of miles before they return for thier replacement. We just return the cluster to be reset to the current mileage and wont release the vehicle then.
