Transmission Issues

I'm just at 40 000km and what appears to be my tranny is acting up. When I'm accelerating it's running up to 3000 RPM and I can't get any speed out of her. Then she eventually catchs up. I've also noticed very rough shifting from time to time recently.

Is this a common issue? Am I barking up the right tree even?

sounds like the thing is in a eng protection mode. Any warning lights/messages? Take it in.

She's booked in for Wednesday. No warning lights no messages, it's not doing it consistantly either. I did catch the "cleaning exhaust filter" message 3 times in the last 2 days so I'm sure that's part of the puzzle.

Sounds like I'm joking but I'm being serious here: Next time it happens try to blow it up, abuse it, whatever you can to make something throw a code. As long as you are covered by a warranty!!!

Seriously, I'm not trying to be a smart azz.

Have you ever changed the air filter? No joke!! I know it doesnt sound related but a very close friend of mine had 20k on his filter (drives in dusty conditions a lot) and the dealer told him this. He thought they were nuts but they said something about if the engine cant get the air it needs it wont shift in to the higher gears very well. He couldnt find the filter anywhere but Ford so he bought one and installed it, says it acts like a brand new truck again. I know it sounds goofy its the honest to God's truth.

Well, I took it onto the shop yesterday. They could not find anything wrong, did the recalls on it and sent me home.

On my way back to work, I could only get 60mph at 3500 rpm out of her. Then I stopped grabbed something and when I started again and put her into drive it jerked so hard that my head snapped....and then the check engine light came on.

Needless to say I ripped the dealership a new one, took it back, now have a rental on thier dime.

As of now they have told me they have the tranny ripped apart to find the issue....gee my heavy duty mechanic at work was correct in his diagnosis!

Now to get her back and trade her in. I never keep a truck after a major repair!
