Cabin air filter?

So I'm getting mixed reports. I have an 05 F250 - just getting ready to do the 30k service and figured hey - might as well check out the in cab air filter as I've never done it - owners manual says they should be done. Got one from Oreilly's. Chiltons doesnt' have anything about them in there, but the filter came with instructions for it(behind the glove box). Yesterday, while I'm at the dealership for the Edge's 3rd PTU seal failure I ask the service manager how often he recommends to replace them and he states that the F250s don't have an in cab air filter and to take it back to Oreilly's. So what is the verdict before I tear into my interior to find a filter that may not exist. Does the 05 F250 have an in cab filter or not? Does anybody know for sure?

Indications are they were a dealer installed option. And not many were. I am still looking for one....

My Taurus X went in for #2 on Tuesday and before they called me to come get it yesterday, the seal started leaking again. Now I'm getting a new PTU. Look at it this way, one more time and Ford gets to buy it back from you.

If your truck does have one, it sits between the blinker fluid reservoir and the Johnson rod.

Often, you'll end up damaging the Johnson rod when you try to get out the cabin air filter. Don't panic if this happens. You can get a replacement here:

Johnson Rod - $149.95 : KaleCoAuto, Hard to find automotive items!

Got him for you pop.

I have never heard of one in these trucks and I have had them completely apart as I used to work in the truck shop at Ford. So get your beer money back, kick back, then send us all invites lol.

Excursions have cabin filters. The virtually-identical SuperDuty series does not.
