thanks for the link. I just looked and the trim is missing on it. 42-47 is just the body style of the Fords. But a Mercury (with proper title) panel with all the proper trim would be something I would love to have. Maybe it's all sitting in the back? I'll keep an eye on it for now.

Oh, don't be so pessimistic, it's probably laying in weeds somewhere close by.

Both of the Cement Mixer trucks pictured above are local to here. I've seen them in person at many shows. They are beautiful! The yellow truck is all stock, while the white one has a bit more chrome all around it, including in the engine compartment.

He feels this truck is too good to rod and should be restored. Seems to me the price was $ 6,000 CDN but don't quote me on that.
Hope this is of some help.
Greg
If this is the Merc in which you are talking about looks as though it's missing alot of the crome, didn't the Merc have horizontal bars on the grill?

yes. But if the chrome was removed for storage, and the serial numbers indicate Mercury. It would be a great restoration.

This is how I thought they should look Havi, I work with a feloow that has a 47 sitting up on blocks that is in very rust free condition, it used to be his uncles and was restored once in it's lifetime, he's hinted a couple of times if I'd like to do another restore but I'm knee deep in my project.

then it would be a Fercury................according to the Canadians!

Those hoods are easy to find. It's the trim on the side of the front fenders and rear quarters that is hard to find.

Looks like the back of the panel is whacked around or something in that picture.

Getting the stainless trim is the hard part, with patience you can straighten and polish almost any piece of trim. My panel is together right now but I am planning on tearing it apart this spring and redoing the entire body so it would be the perfect time to add the Merc trim. I would also need the front corners of the front fenders so I can mouth the Merc's parking likes, there's a outward stamping in that area the Fords don't have. I just think the Mercs are a lot more ornate the the Fords.

Sorry I had to leave this discussion last night. My Son had an athletics award dinner to attend. I'll try to answer some of the questions that were raised about the '46 panel. The front grill has been removed and is stored. He had a grill on this Merc and then bought 3 more. He was able to make up three good grills and one goes with this panel.
The '46-'47 Mercury grills are a lot more compicated than the '48-'50. The picture that 56 panelford put up is the one for sale and the following picture shows a nice early grill of the type that would go on it.
This is for Bob. The fender trim is getting harder to find . Two years ago the going price at the Barrie swapmeet was $ 300 for a good set. Last year the price was $600. The front fender lights ( complete ) are very hard to find as the bulb housing is usually rotten from all the road dirt thrown on them. I have seen a bulb housing that a guy made up so could go that way. I've got extra glass lens for them( easy to find) the chrome trim piece is tough to find.
You do know that the '48-'50 Mercury front fenders are different from the Ford fenders so you would need to find them too. Hope I answered a few questions.

Other than the extra stamping for the parking lights are the other differences?

I believe that the recessed area at the front of the fender is the only difference. I've never taken a real close look at the two. It should be possible to cut out this area and weld it on to a Ford fender. Remember my comment on the dirt and crap rusting the bulb housing? It does the same to the mounting area on the fender. You'd have to get one of the guys in western Canada to find some good ones. Southern Ontario ones are usually rusted away.
The half ton fenders are harder to find than the larger 3/4 and up ones. I've got a set of M-68 ( 3/4 ) that I was going to modify but the Merc I traded for has decent fenders so I'll repair them and use them.
Hope this was of help to you.
Greg
