bosch or motorcraft are both really good. pretty much every one says stay away from autolites. over time they expand and are really hard to get out. before changing the glow plugs i would check the gpr to make sure its not bad.

i thought about the gpr too. i recently put in a used wire harness since mine was toasted at valve cover connectors and didnt put my gpr back, i left the one that was on the harness. im gonna change it and see if it makes a difference.

ZD-11 is the ones you are going to want. Go to ebay and search ZD-11 in auot parts and accessories. They usually run for around $60.00 a full set.

how do the zd's compare to motorcraft? ive got a friend that works for the ford dealer and he said they are normally 25 each but he would give them to me for 11 each.

the ZD-11's are manufactured by motorcraft, I think, someone will be along shortly.

When you get you set of Motorcraft (Ford dealer 25.94, RockAuto 10.84 per, 8.00 on eBay) they should be marked Beru, Made in Ireland. Throws some folks... Ii can attest to Autolites coming out hard. Took days to get three out.

I save good information articles I come across and have a couple that may help you when you do the job. If you would like them (MS Word documents) send me an email at Believer45@gmail.com with GLOW PLUG INFORMATION in the subject line, let me know what site you saw this on and what email address you would like me to use and I will reply with the attachments.

As for brand, folks are right on when they say Motorcraft only - too many stories of issues with other brands. ZD-11 is the current number, they should come in Motorcraft part bags with Ford part number F4TZ*12A342*BA on them and should be etched onto the glow plug Beru Ireland. I am looking at one.

Mine were beru germanys also, I think that may be because these trucks are up to 15 years old. If they are the original glow plugs they might have been made in germany that long ago and the new ones are made in ireland. I bought autolites because they were cheap, big mistake, after 3 months 4 are bad. I'm returning them all and using zd-11's when I do my injectors.

What's the going rate for a GPR and where is the best place to buy one?

Edited: never mind I just found one on EBay for $35.00.

Thanks

Pat

I've had bad luck with beru plugs (german) breaking off in my truck like autolites. I only use/recommend bosch. Just my .02
