Well i went to pick up my truck from the dealer after having the steering fixed. It was about 20* and wasn't plugged in. I waited the 60-90 sec for the glowplugs to shut off and tried to start it up. It didn't. After about six or seven times it finally started and was running about 800rpm (usual for mine is around 650). But the interesting thing is that while cranking on it the 'water in fuel' light and 'engine temp' light came on for the first time since i've owned this truck. Later on down the road when the engine was warm i put it to the floor and it smoked like it used to. Recently about the last two months or so, it hasn't smoked as much as usual and seemed a little short on power, but now its back the way it was before. Plenty of power and smoke when i want it. I don't know how to explain it, but i'm happy its back to normal.
sorry for the long post, and it drives like brand new now.
Thanks, my problem is differant. I had replaced mine already mine was so bad I had metal shavings on my floor board. Just swapped the whole thing out of my 95 gasser and fixxed that problem. But my problem is in the back and forth. Just wondering if it is in the box itself?
well after only driving about 100 miles since i got my truck back i see that not only has the power returned but also fuel mileage. The only possible thing that i can think of that would cuase this is if the guys at the dealer, unplugged the pcm or disconnected the battery cable and it there was something wrong that was corrected by doing this. only option might be that a sensor that had ice or who knows what on it thawed out in the shop and is working properly, but that is unlikely since last week we had temps in the 60s. So what do you guys think?
cow milker you could be right about them clearing codes. when my truck is running sluggish, i see what the code reader says. most of the time its a 1211 icp code. after i clear it, shes back to normal. just my .02
